Should gay marriage be legalized? Why or why not?
I wouldn't worry all of you who want gay and lesbian marriage in the United States. If the MAJORITY doesn't over rule the minority in California at the ballot then you will have gay marriage. If the governor of New York can move form just acknowledging gay marriages from other states to allowing the marriages you will have it. Once Barack is elected president we will have a democratic trinity with a Democratic House, Democratic Senate, and Democratic white house. This trinity will get their deepest desires and wishes accompolished, including gay and lesbian marriage, as this country takes one more step further into liberalism and finally into socialism.
Goodbye Hannity and Limbaugh and hello to liberal talk show hosts who will get the same amount of air time directly following. Funny, Air America tried the whole liberal talk show hosts and went BANKRUPT!
Goodbye private property and hello redistribution of wealth. If you have red shoes then I want red shoes!
Hello partial birth abortions and even more Planned Parenthoods, and the systematic destruction of the African American race. Gotta love Eugenics!
Goodbye religious freedom, and hello loss of 50C-3 or jailtime to any pastor or layperson who publicly speaks out against sin. Don't you just love being politically correct! I know fellow pastors in Canada and Scandinavia do!
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

Like so many subjects he who defines the wording wins. On this issue the words have been chosen brilliantly. The issue of a license, a government issued license, is somehow now an issue of civil rights. they won the war of wording. When did marriage ever mean who is sleeping with whom and when did the government ever have the right to license who an adult has sex with? but the meaning of words have been changed, and now instead of seeing that the government, by way of the courts, is calling who you have sex with, or live with, a privilege that it now has the right to license. and they call this new infringement on rights a civil right. people are such fools, welcome to 1984.
This should be obvious to virtually every citizen. But, such clarity that should be, is not. The supreme court's case of Engel vs.Vitale in June 25, 1962 is the reason why it is no longer obvious to the masses. It was the first case to recognize the idea of separation of church and state as legitimate. Since then, it has become precedent, i.e. common law. Meaning, since they ruled that way, from now on everyone must rule that way. But, guess what: The judges cited zero precedents ---absolutely none.
Now consider the 1892 supreme court case of Church of the Holy Trinity vs.the United States. The ruling said that the U.S.A. was "an emphatically Christian nation". Why did the judges say that? THESE judges actually said why. In fact they cited 87 precedents ---eighty-seven! Now guess what. The judges then said that they could keep on going for quite a while, but that 87 should be enough.
What would happen if you actually read the first amendment of the constitution where too many people think the idea of separation of church and state comes? The only thing it says on a topic including churches is, "Congress shall make no law respecting" (i.e. no law showing favoritism towards) "an establishment of religion," (i.e. a religious institution, which is a reference to an organization of people and not any teaching or belief) "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech..."(and onto a new topic it goes).
Really, homosexual "marriages" are not pro-homosexual, but anti-religion. Homosexuals may live together if they so please, they may do so for the rest of their lives if they so please, they may have lovy-dovy feelings for each other if they so please, and they may have sex with each other if they so please. What it comes down-to is that some of them want to defile the name of what almost all if not all religions see as holy and only heterosexual.
@trunthepaige - the year or the book? lol, i dont think i want to see jesse jackson run for president again.
@blgr - aint that the truth, if you stand up and upon gods word you're referred to as a bigot
@Roaring_T_Rex - keeping preaching on your message, though very few want to hear it, it is the truth!
@chasingGzus -
As I think you guessed the book. Newspeak comes to mind

Because it is not a marriage any more than water can be dry. Words have meanings and marriage can not be same sex. But lets not let that bother us. Lets just change what things are and deny the truth of it.
@rita_sexy67211 - It is defiinitely hurting the integrity and value of family in our country. I see that as hurting everyone. In the kind of hypothetical situation you describe, I don't believe my love for my mother would be compromised by disagreeing with her lifestyle or seeing it as a sinful desire. I wouldn't have the urge to verbally abuse her, belittle her, or do my best to make her unhappy. But if, instead of turning to lesbianism, she turned to cutting herself or wallowing in self-pity or spending tons of money or recklessly dating or overeating all the time, I would not condone those decisions. They may not directly hurt me physically or socially, but it's not about me at that point, is it. It'd be about her example to my children; it'd be about her potential as a God-created purpose-infused human being. It would be about seeing her freed from deception and condemnation.
I don't see being against gay marriage as a hateful thing. I see it as a position against the destruction of the family unit and a position that is fighting for the preservation of unified, strong families that in turn make a unified and strong nation, and a unified and strong Church.

You religious fundies are hillarious. The sad thing is that anyone out there takes any of you seriously. Nobody is trying to take away your right to "speak out against sin", just prevent you from calling anything you disagree with, whether it interferes with your basic rights or not, a sin, and using that to oppress others over it. You're pathetic, ignorant people, and I can only hope our government starts taking steps to keep your rampant egos in check, and prevent you from oppressing and/or harming innocent people with your religious bullshit nonsense.
I almost feel sorry for you, actually believing that keeping you from oppressing others is an attack on your rights.
T Rex - Like hell it is. This nation was founded on FREEDOM. Including freedom of religion. Not Christianity. The founders knew how out of hand theocracies get, and explicitly stated that America should not be one. But that aside, does it matter what the country was founded on? Hey, our founding fathers owned slaves, too. But we put a stop to that when we realized it was a bad idea. And so it should be, for any issue. We should be focused on protecting the freedom and equality of our citizens, and it's impossible to do that, with a government based in religion. Like it or not, your religion has NO rational grounds whatsoever, and that makes it dangerous. Personal beliefs need to remain just that - personal. They have no place in public laws or policies.
@storyslut - 30% of all African American children born during this year will be aborted, go to youtube.com and search planned parenthood and black, the first video that comes up should be about this guy making multiples calls to planned parenthoods throughout the US seeking to funnel his donation solely to the abortion of a black baby.
@chasingGzus -
Ok, thanks for explaining that. You are saying that because there is a 30% abortion rate that the African American population will dwindle out?
I'm not complaining about making $25,000 - $30,000 a year starting out. It's not bad. I just don't want the job to be permenant and I'm scared that's what my fiance wants. I had plans to become a pharmacist and though it's not about the money I would be making about $80,000 a year which is considerably more. I don't know... It's all just really new to us and a huge decision that we still have to make together. I just hope everything works out ok!
Gay marriage is one of the toughest subjects. It's very touchy. I try to stay away from it as much as possible because I don't want to start a fight with either opinion I have!
Good luck and take care! <3
@socialite_baby - since it his parents being comfortable may be want he wants exactly, but then again since you two are about to be wed and have a kid stability may be what he wants too. Don't be too concerned about the money. No one ever makes enough money to get married or have kids, you just take what you have been given and live off of it the best to your ability.
Perhaps, not right now, but maybe sometime later down the road when your child is older and your hubby has a good stable job that can pay all the bills you will be able to go to scool to become a pharmacist. My advice is just to not worry about the financial problems and have faith that God will take care of you.
I'm not going to try to argue your opinions on anything (that would just be stupid, and impossible to win) but I want to look at this comment for a moment:
"Goodbye religious freedom, and hello loss of 50C-3 or jailtime to any pastor or layperson who publicly speaks out against sin."
I think that this is grossly exaggerated, I'm pagan and yes I have Christian undertones, and was Catholic for many, many years before my life sent me in a different direction. I think that most of what turns "us" [[Pagans]] off from preachers that preach against sin is the language that is often used to do it. I've been called slut, hellion, demon, and other things by supposedly devout Catholics. We are all entitled to our opinions and to free speech, but what we are not entitled to is degrading other human beings no matter their life choices, even if we agree with them. Showing concern that I'm pagan will probably get you laughed at, but at least it's not offending and I'm more willing to listen if you're civil. One of the things that my church did that I really respected them for was, instead of having clinics and things out and out against abortion (which obviously they are) they had "healing" seminars for women who have gone through it and those deciding what to do. Giving this respectful, sympathetic, ear is what gains you respect - it's also I've always believed more in Jesus's line of work than standing outside a clinic and making the women feel like shit.
You attract more flies with honey than vinegar.
I'm going to stop babbling now ...
@baranorewen - ive come to the realization long ago that our forefathers just looked at god as one who set things in motion and let it go as he wistfully watched it pass by with no outside interference of his own. bleh...
regarding your comment to my comment, if you havent read my article on Christians and judging you should. I think you would like it.
i'm not afraid that gay marriage will impact my family's straight values - heck - one of my children may one day mention that he is gay and i would still love and respect his choice, his way of life and his right to choose.
Jesus would have shown nothing but love for gays.
@tjbruin00 - what im finding funny is it the exit polling. When most come out of the booth around 50/50 say they are against it, however when you see the real stats its around 60/40!
