Without it, you can not please God.

Lately as I have been reading the book of Hebrews and James God has really speaking to me about Faith. Of course if you didnt know the book of Hebrews and James were written to Hebraic Christians, thus if you ever wondered why Jewish issues popped up in these books, their is your reason. But none the less, let's tackle this issue about faith.

Hebrews establishes two things, that you need faith and need to see Jesus as he truly is, the Lord. As you read over the 13 chapters of Hebrews the writer (most likely Paul) establishes that Jesus is awesome. First he shows that he greater then the angels, next that he wasnt just an ordinary man or priest, but he is the great high priest who died once for all the sins of the past, present, and future. Next he shows that not only is he the great High Priest who presented the sacrifice before God, he is that sacrifice. This was essential to show that Jesus willingly gave his life of his own accord, and presented it before God as the sacrifice to cover of our all sins since the blood of goats, and rams cant forgive sins. Next the writer takes a stab at every Jews favorite man, Moses, stating that Jesus is greater then the one who gave the law, because he fulfilled the law.

In the midst of proving Jesus to be messiah the writer constantly talks about faith, why? Because without faith its impossible to please God. He points to the Israelites who displeased God in the desert by their lack of faith. In chapter 11, the hall of faith, the writer talks about all of these great people who had faith in his promises and in something better then what they had or were experienced. What Paul was trying to teach the Jews is that you need to be like all the great ancestors and mimic their faith in God since you are surrounded by so great cloud of witnesses. Dont be disobedient and not believe in God, but trust that Jesus is the messiah.

Overall, when I think about what I learned from reading Hebrews it has shown me that my faith isnt a part of my faith, its everything. The same faith that I have that he exists, is the same faith that I should have that Jesus is his son, and even more so that his word is true. If Jesus said that he would take care of every single detail of my life, I need to trust that he will. Because when I dont trust him, it doesnt please him or give him any glory.

Faith is hoping for what is seen, and be suring of what we do not see. How contradictory does that sound, but its true. The very things that are before our eyes are fleeing, and the things that we dont see we know exist and will happen. Everything will be taken care of by my Father.

Hey Phil, I've always wanted to ask you about this.

What are your views on the controversy of the Davinci Code? The controversy being people saying that Jesus was married to Mary Magdaline and had kids with her. I personally do not believe it, and neither does a lot of people I know.

My mom has said that the bible is big on lineage and if that thing about Jesus having kids and being married were true then there would be mentions about it in the bible.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

    Take care, and God bless!
